In the Meantime
While nothing is happening with TO JONES, here’s a micro update on me:
I’ve finished a first draft of my second novel - a novella, really - tentatively called Plant Heist Girlies. It’s been a joy to write. Two literary reps are interested in seeing the final draft. So that’s good.
Beak, Lady Mama, and Littlehead are the crow friends I spend time with each morning. They bring me immense joy.
I fell in LOOOOOOVE with a debut novel by Ben Reeves, Everything Was Beautiful and Nothing Hurt. It DESTROYED me in the best possible way.
Over the weekend, I performed a piece called Boomers On High at Le Salon Rouge. Terrific fun.
The film Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma was prob the best time I’ve had at the cinema in decades. I worship Hannah Einbinder and Gillian Anderson and will gladly follow them into the depths of hell, if that’s where they choose to go. Camp Miasma was an exploration of erotic imprint/templates formed in early sexual development at the intersection of queerness and Hollywood. Also, I’ve been pouring Raisinets into my movie popcorn since I was 10yrs old so it hit extra for me.
And, probably most importantly, I cracked the code on my rope art vulvas! Six years perfecting these wall hangings, and I finally did it! I’m planning to have a little art sale/celebration sometime late Oct/early Nov. And, when the time comes, I’ll auction one off as a book promotion.
This is the first September i’m not doing the back-to-school thing. Weird. Very weird.
