Hey Gurl,

Welcome to the annoouncement section for my debut novel TO JONES, forthcoming 2026 from Limit Zero Publications. From concept to publication, this was a twelve-year journey. It took years to find the voice. Years to complete a rough, first, second, and final draft. Years of professional encouragement that ultimately ended with rejection. All this, while raising four children (now grown). As an older first-time novelist who’s spent my entire adult life devoted to art, I’m choosing to ride this wave as best I can, because, like any long-awaited holiday, the hype is always bigger than the day itself. The day comes and goes and everything is the way it was before. I get it. I’m too old to not get it.

Was there a book advance? Sadly, no. I’m with a very small press. After the many expenses it takes to bring a book into the world, they’ll be lucky to break even. If we manage to sell 500 copies, I’ll receive $1 per book sale going forward. It seems paltry, I know.

But consider this: Most manuscripts remain unfinished. Most books never see the light of day. Some of the most talented writers (many of them are my friends) may never be published. When TO JONES is published I’ll join the ranks of 99% of authors with actual books who don’t make an actual living. Yay. And while I can’t help but cradle that pesky and persistent 1% fantasy — the dream of a breakthrough hit, of going viral, of somehow finding readers outside my immediate community — the numbers and circumstances involved in achieving that are all but insane. I know this going in.

And yet. And still.

A woman can dream.

Sometimes, dreaming is our superpower.

I’m deeply grateful to Limit Zero for giving me this opportunity, and I look forward to this adventure!
